L & R Joinery are Derby-based joiners and carpenters covering Melbourne, Derbyshire, about 7 miles from our base.
Melbourne is one of Derbyshire's most desirable villages, known for its Norman church, Melbourne Hall, and its well-preserved Georgian and Victorian streetscapes. The period properties along Church Street, Potter Street, and the surrounding lanes often require joinery that blends seamlessly with their traditional character: think panelled internal doors, bespoke alcove units, and hardwood window replacements. The newer estates on the village fringes and nearby King's Newton, Ticknall, and Stanton by Bridge offer scope for modern kitchen fitting, built-in wardrobes, and garden rooms. We also regularly work in Castle Donington, Swadlincote, Derby, and Long Eaton.

Homes & Joinery in Melbourne
Melbourne is a small Georgian market town in South Derbyshire, known for Melbourne Hall, its Norman parish church and Staunton Harold Reservoir nearby. Much of the centre is a conservation area, with listed brick cottages and townhouses along Church Street and Potter Street.
Joinery for these homes has to match what's already there: panelled doors, moulded architraves and sash windows made to the original profiles. Owners also ask for alcove units and bookcases that look as though they've always been part of the house.

"Anton is a true craftsman and a consummate professional. What initially seemed like a straightforward door job turned out to be much more challenging, but Anton handled it with precision and skill. His workmanship is immaculate, and the doors fit perfectly thanks to his attention to detail. You can tell he's an expert not just from the quality of the finish, but also from the professional tools and techniques he uses. Once you've had Anton work on your home, you won't be looking for another joiner, that's for sure!"
