L & R Joinery are Derby-based joiners and carpenters covering Matlock, Derbyshire, about 15 miles from our base.
Matlock's dramatic setting along the Derwent Valley means properties here range from grand Victorian villas on the Heights of Abraham side to cosy stone cottages in Matlock Bath and Cromford. Many older properties have characterful features, such as thick stone walls, uneven floors, and period joinery, that call for a careful, experienced hand. We provide bespoke kitchens designed to fit non-standard spaces, replacement wooden windows and doors that respect the area's heritage, and fitted wardrobes that make the most of sloped ceilings. We also cover Matlock's neighbours including Belper, Ashbourne, Ripley, and Alfreton.

Homes & Joinery in Matlock
Matlock is Derbyshire's county town, with County Hall housed in the former Smedley's Hydro. Its streets climb steep hillsides above the Derwent, and Matlock Bath and Cromford below are full of stone cottages and Victorian villas built during the spa era.
Building on slopes means split levels, retaining walls and rooms that rarely have a level floor. Many Matlock homes have original sash windows, panelled doors and staircases worth repairing rather than ripping out, and fitted furniture often has to work under sloping ceilings.
